MY DEAR FRIENDS, fans and followers, ladies and gentlemen
it's my pleasure welcoming you once again to the talkshow
the platform where discussions are held and lights beamed on all issues in careers, skills, talents and relationships. I hope you are all doing well in any area of human engagement you are.
Today please come with me, together we will be looking at and beaming illumination on the issue REALIGNMENT FOR CAREER SUCCESS. Realignment, no permanent friends but permanent interest, caucuses, divide and rule etc are more of politics and politicians.Businesses, corporate entities and most organizations within which career people work are essentially profit oriented for which purpose they employ and deploy people, systems, structures, processes and procedures in the best possible combination in order to achieve the profit making ,corporate objectives. Again, for exigencies, higher business opportunities or expansion, businesses do restructuring, realignment, redeployment, reshufflement of the players, the people, the systems, processes and procedures from time to time with a view to maximally tap advantages of emerging trends, markets and opportunities in their respective industries.
While the organization in which you work do this, it is not uncommon that as managers, employees or player in whatever capacity, you suddenly find yourself in a position where the only option open to you is to realign and repackage as regards:-
(1) the new people you have to work with.
(2) the new systems to which you have to adapt
(3) the new processes and procedures
and (4) the new reporting lines.
For most people and career workers, this juncture in their career is decisively critical. It represents a point where major career decision should be taken, it is a point where one,s career management skills have to be put into full use.
My dear friends and followers, come along with me, reason with me, yes your organization will brand all of these changes as realignments, rebranding, restructuring or repackaging but as an individual player, manager or employee who is used to a set of people, systems, processes and procedures, naturally as a being of human species, restructuring your organization and reshuffling you to work with an entirely new set of systems, people, processes, bosses and procedures tantamounts to dismantling a house with the needs to rebuilding another. Consequently, summarily some of the things or steps you need to take for your career advancement are:- (1) RECONCILIATION
In the course of discharging your professional
duties ,it is not unusual for you to have crossed the
path of colleagues or even subordinates who were in
different departments from yours but by the fallouts
of organizational restructuring, you now have to
work with them.It is ideal and professionally sound
to at this point stretch out hands of
friendship to such colleagues, letting them know
all of those happened purely professionally and
nothing personal about them.
(2) RE-TOOLING YOUR SOFT SKILL CAPACITIES
Again at a point like this, it is professionally sound
and healthy for your career advancement to resharpen
and put to full use your soft skills, the interpersonal
relationship capacities to galvanize and rally your
new staffs around your new office and assignments in
order to get the best out of the systems, processes and
procedures. This will not be out of place because even
if your new staffs and colleagues may not be of the
same attitudes and dispositions with your formers, most
of them will respond positively to a good soft skills
placed on the table thus enhancing your chances of
career success despite that you have to work with a
new people, new systems, new processes and new
structures.
(3) QUICKLY LEARN AND ADAPT TO THE NEW ORDER
My good friends, yes as a result of the organizational
realignment, you have to work with new people, new
systems, new processes and new structures,a good
practice at this point is to quickly learn, adapt to
and blend all of them for effective service delivery,
ultimately this will have the effect of your
succeeding along the line of your career path.
Finally, it is imperative that you move quickly, establish and work with your new reporting lines.
Ladies and gentlemen, succeeding in a career, just like in any other area of human engagements is a desire of every corporate player, but career path is not a challenge-free one the challenges come in various, many forms (workplace politics, divide and rule etc) and the fallouts of corporate realignment or repositioning on which I have just beamed some lights. Therefore my friends,my followers and fans for you to succeed in the corporate world, you must learn, understand and apply these career success imperatives. For your career success, you must understand how, what and when of corporate realignment or restructuring and how it affects you,the impacts it may have on your career development. As managers of people, systems, processes and procedures, you must develop appropriate skills to manage all of these and all situations. Within the organizational goals, your personal career development and goals must be situated. These are the minimum you require to succeed in today's dynamic corporate world and by doing all of these in response to your organization,s realignment, you are equally realigning to the new people, new systems, new processes and new structures, indeed succeeding.
It's been my pleasure giving insights and beaming lights on corporate realignment and it's impacts on career people.
